From our balcony after I was out of breath from jumping up and down and screaming from excitement!
On the deck before Bon Voyage. While we were waiting for the ship to sail the blow horns went off. Everyone jumped and poor Aliya got so scared, it was the only time she cried on the whole cruise!
Sailing away
I went rock climbing as we set sail. It is way harder than it looks and I was lucky the guy below helped pull me up a few times or I don't think I would have made it to the top. I really got a birds eye view from up there as we were sailing away, it was so beautiful! Bye, Tampa!
My roses arrived for our 10th anniversary (from when we met) from Rob on Friday along with a belated 30th birthday cake! I was blown away. The surprises wouldn't stop coming! Along with the cruise, roses, and cake I also had a surprise excursion, my choice of parasailing or swimming with dolphins in Cozumel and as if that wasn't enough I also got my treatment of choice from the spa!!! I chose parasailing but when we got to Cozumel the winds were so strong it was cancelled. (probably a good thing because we rented a car and headed off for the day!) For my massage I picked a full body aromaflex massage with 25 minutes extra on my feet. Heaven!
In Cozumel... this picture is for Dad! In my defense, I can't help it! I don't even realize I'm doing it!
We rented a car and headed to see the Island. Aliya had a carseat but when we were on the interior roads I pulled her out (my rule breaking nature), when else will she be able to be carseat less in her life?! It was fun having her in my lap!
We ate at Los Mocajetes...very appropriate for us! It was great atmosphere but I am not crazy about real Mexican food. I love the Americanized version but the real thing doesn't do it for me. We had chicken, beef, tortillas- corn and flour, beans, guacamole, salsa, chips, nachos, tacos, grilled cactus and onions. It was great service and atmosphere. Everything was cooked in front of us. Aliya sat in a Mexican highchair and managed to turn completely around, (she's a rule breaker like her mom, see picture of me above!) Btw- grilled cactus tastes like sauteed green peppers.
We went to check out the Mayan ruins. The Maya archaeological site of San Gervasio has an unusually long history, beginning sometime around 100 BC and continuing as late as the 16th century. It was still a functioning religious site at the time the Spaniards arrived in the 16th century. In the heart of the island, in a lush jungle populated with brilliantly colored iguanas (like the one I am petting above) and lush flowers and foliage. Rob and I totally understood why this was the site the Mayans chose to live. It is a beautiful place. San Gervasio was a site dedicated to the Mayan goddess Ixchel ("She of the Rainbows"), deity of midwifery, fertility, medicine and weaving. Aliya slept though most of it but how could you blame her she was in her dads arms on a warm day with a warm breeze, walking around peacefully; it was a perfect napping
The wind was really going as we headed back to the ship, Royal Caribbeans Grandeur of the Sea. Aliya LOVES wind. She was laughing as it came across her face. I'm glad Rob had a good grip of her or she would've blown away.
On formal night, Aliya was dressed in a beautiful ivory linen dress with pink smocking across the front and her pink bow to match in her hair and then we had a little accident so into pj's she went, but we kept the pink bow, she looked like she was in formal PJ's!
Here is a picture of Aliya in her dress when we headed back to the room. She became fast friends with the towel bunny wearing her favorite accessory, glasses!
Aliya went to the babies Fisher Price program in the morning. They had lots of toys for her to play with and Miss. Allison was so nice and surprisingly from Debary, Fl. Aliya also went to Crayola time with Rob but was frustrated when no one let her eat the crayons. She liked the bedtime story with Miss. Allison though!
In the ship. We made some wonderful friends on the cruise. I hope they keep in touch because we really enjoyed their company. There was Harold and Gloria from Tampa with their adorable grandson, Clayton. Jennifer and Jason from Michigan and Cheryl from Mt. Dora.

Rob visited this store 3 times! He was just so impressed at all the drugs you could get. Now that he knows what they are he was in awe of everything that was available without needing a prescription.
