Aliya and I went over to Grandma Joan and Grandpa Georges house to bake cookies! We had such a great time! I learned lots of baking tips; did you know that wet and dry ingredients should be mixed separately before they are mixed together and wet ingredients should be brought to room temperature before you use them. I also learned some secret tips! Grandma Joan had been baking for days when I arrived and still had days to go; but the day I was there we made gingerbread men, biscotti, and coconut macaroons. I made the coconut macaroons again yesterday with Aliya and mom. Mom came over yesterday to bake cookies for Christmas. Yesterday along with coconut macaroons we made sugar cookies (we tried to make aliya foot and hand prints but that was just a big mess and they didn't turn out so we stuck with round and cookie cutter cutouts) pumpkin cookies, Grandma Spurlock cookies, and I baked up the dough Grandma Joan gave me (chocolate and vanilla checkers with orange zest! )I also got to use my new rolling pin Grandma Joan gave me. She has had this particular rolling pin for 40 years! She got a new French rolling pin and since she wasn't using her old pin she graciously gave it to me!(pic of me using it below) I love it! It rolls so wonderfully! Thanks Grandma Joan!
