Ever have one of those moments were you discover a secret hidden potential you never knew you were capable of? Rob had one of those moment earlier this week. We bought this cube for Aliya with different activities on each side, a clock, numbers and letters, a beaded side and a side with a keyboard. Rob was down on the floor playing with Aliya and thought he’d try and play her a song on the keyboard. He picked Mary had a little lamb. He carefully choose a key to start and following the tune played it perfectly on the keyboard by sound!! I was so impressed! Adam has had this talent since he was 3. He can hear any song and play it by sound on the piano! I was also slightly jealous, for I have no musical talent whatsoever. On his first attempt he played the song without a hitch. So impressed with him I asked him to play another song. This time he attempted Happy Birthday. In was uncanny how much it sounded like Mary had a little lamb. It wasn’t long before we realized that no matter what key you push on the keyboard it plays Mary had a little lamb. It was in that moment that Rob lost his talent as fast as he received it. Hysterically funny and sad at the same time, I was rolling around laughing for so long before I could compose myself enough to tell him how bad I felt that his talent wasn’t a talent at all but a rouse played on him by the toy manufacturers. Strange how he choose the only song it plays by coincidence. Lucky for him he has many other talents to fall back on. We’ll leave the music to Adam.
