Dodging a bullet- twice!
O’Shaugnessy was a shared truck for Rob and I for years but when rotations started in 2008 we needed a 2nd car. I bought Oliver, a Jeep Cherokee, he was a great little truck for us for a little while except for the heat going out in dead of winter in Cleveland when it was pretty much 10 below every morning. My rotation was 10 minutes away and Robs was an hour but he never let me drive him without heat. He would put on 2 jackets and drive with gloves all the was so me and little in-utero Aliya would be warm. When we got to Florida we knew little Ali couldn’t drive in such a car and need something a bit more reliable and safer so we took Oliver to get an appraisal which was valid for 5 days to sell him. We were undecided because the apprasial was so low, so we left him in the lot overnight and decided against getting a new car for a little while since we didn’t have much money. When we went to pick Oliver back up he just didn’t start. He had never done this before but right there in the lot her refused to turn on. Rob and I just walked in a sold him since our appraisal was still good and dodged the bullet for his repairs! (They still got a steal with their low-ball offer though.) Over the last few days when we would turn Lexi's key she wouldn’t start but as soon as you turned it a second time she would start right up. I didn’t think much of it since it wasn’t happening much. On our wonderful relaxing Saturday we were bopping along town without a plan and Rob suggested checking out some cars. With NO intention to buy we pulled in and had Lexi appraised while we shopped. After falling head over heels for CeeCee (My new Mini-van) we traded Lexi in. After all the i’s were dotted and t’s were crossed. The technician asks us to help him start Lexi because he was having trouble. She didn’t start and the remote key broke into three pieces to-boot! Dodged bullet number two!
