In katchi a fly is called a maki and a bee is called a muhdmaki meaning honey-fly so I named aliya’s new butterfly toy her ghee-maki or literally butter fly. She loves her Ghee-maki. It is meant to encourage her to crawl because it rolls away and flaps its wings. She dismisses the idea and grabs it and forces it to remain in her lap. She will crawl for no one until she is ready which by the way she is getting really close! She has figured out how to get on her hand and knees and she sways back and forth and then falls. But don’t think she sits in one place and plays, no way! She is the most mobile non crawling baby ever. She can get anywhere she want to just by rolling and stretching and turning. Maybe that’s why she is not so interested in crawling, she figures what’s the point I already can get to where I want to go.
