Happy Birthday Patrick!

Naughty Maddi

Rob was giving Aliya a bath the other day and playing with her in the tub with some of her toys. She has a turtle, duck and frog. They float and squeak and are just fun little bath toys. Maddi heard the squeaking and came in to play with them. She stole the toy and played with it for a long time. When I tried to switch it with one of her toys she was not interested but just wanted to chew on Aliyas!

Cooking

So one of the many benefits of being a stay at home mom is being able to cook. I have now started to cook all the time and not just easy stuff, really tough stuff! I have made Persian chicken, Kalyo, Burfi and Pera! The most shocking part is not that I am cooking but that the food turns out! Can you believe I made pera...from scratch! I still am in disbelief!

Daddy's girl

Aliya got all dressed up for her first bucs game! She was set to watch it with her Daddy but she fell asleep before it started.
Aliya and her daddy have so much fun together. I really want to videotape him singing and playing with her but he wont let me... he's a little camera shy. It is so sweet, he bounces her on his leg and makes up silly songs. She just laughs and laughs! He has a great way of playing with her. She is so lucky to have a daddy that loves her so much! She is his pumpkin butt!

Visit with Grandma Joan and Grandpa George

Aliya had a wonderful time visiting with Grandma Joan and Grandpa George. They are really my cousins grandparents but Aliya will never know the difference! Grandma Joan is an amazing cook and seamstress. I have asked for a cooking lesson. I just have to decide what I want to learn to make. I think I am going straight for the sauce. She makes her own marinara sauce from scratch . I also want to learn how to make canollis! Yum Yum!

Aliya and her toys

Aliya loves her toys. Actually, I think I love her toys more! I can't seem to enter a store without buying her something. She has so many toys. I love the way she stares at the toys that hang above her head on her car seat or the way she stops whatever she is doing to listen when one of her toys makes noise (especially when it plays music.)
The following story is not for the feint of heart.. and I feel bad enough so please do not call and lecture me about it. I set Aliya down for a nap with her pink blanket bear, Lola; its her comfort toy. About 15 minutes into her nap I heard her fuss but I thought I'd wait to go get her until I heard her cry. She fussed for about 10 minutes. When I went to check on her Lola was on her face smothering her. I have no idea how Lola ended up draped on Aliya's face. Now I know why they say never leave toys or blankets in the crib with a baby. I learned my lesson. Aliya now sleeps without anything in her bed! I was terrified when I saw her like that.

Blog Book

I found this great site that takes your blog and turns it into a book. I took all my old blogs (Zahra and Rob Kent's Page, Baby Kent's Page, Zahra's Growing experience with photography and the one lonely post from Rob vents) and made a book, I can't wait to get it in the mail! In a year I'll turn this blog and Aliya's Blog into a book too!

To Aliya on your 3 month birthday

Aliya,
You are 3 months old today and you couldn't be more beautiful. I am so proud of you, for you have accomplished a lot in your short 3 months but I am also sad to see my little baby grow up so fast. I can’t believe you are a quarter of a year old. You've grown and changed so much in the last 3 months. You are no longer an infant and now you are definitely my chunky chalula as you weigh almost 15 lbs - all courtesy of mommy as you have been exclusively breastfed so far. You have outgrown your 0-3 month clothes and I am having a really hard time retiring your outfits even though your toes have no room to wiggle and you can’t stretch out straight in them. You found your hands and it is so fun to watch you check them out and learn how to use them, though I don’t like that you constantly stuff them in your mouth. You smile and coo and are starting to giggle which melts me to pieces. You love to dance and play with Daddy. You love music, any kind. You also talk so much; I love hearing all about your day and can’t wait to hold a conversation with you. I love to watch you sleep with your legs all over the place. You have stopped sleeping with your hand stretched out over your head and I miss it terribly. I also miss my little shark baby. Mommy, of course, thinks you are the cutest baby there ever was. You have chubby cheeks and chunky thighs that make everyone smile. You are our perfect baby and you were worth the wait. I can't imagine not having you in my life .I don't think there is a day that goes by that your Daddy and I don't look at each other and wonder how we got so lucky. How did we combine to make such a perfect little person? You have definitely changed our lives. Thank you for being our baby. I love you with all of my heart.
Love, Mommy

Aliya is a star...literally!

Our wonderful Uncle Gary and Family gave Aliya a star for my babyshower. I went and registered it the other day with the International Star Registry. She now has a star in her honor in the constellation Cassiopeia. Her star coordinates are 23h 25m 32.60s 63 15’ 47 34”. I marked where it is on the picture below. Thanks Uncle Gary!

Aliya making music

Aliya plays in her baby gym every morning while I get dressed. The other morning I caught her turning the ball on her gym which causes a tune to be played. She was doing it on purpose, not by accident! She got it to play 3 times and today she was doing it again and got it to play 6 times! Every day I notice an improvement in her abilities. She is gaining such control of her arms and hands. Her head control is amazing and she is almost ready to roll over, I can see it! So exciting!

Aliyas 1/4 birthday pictures

Aliya had some pictures taken for her 1/4 birthday which is coming up in a couple of days! These are some of my favorites. I love the last picture, it shows all her chub and a sweet smile!

Rob...? Is it really you...?

So the other night Project Runway was starting on tv. It is a reality show about fashion designers designing and making clothes. They are then judged on their work and one designer gets kicked off the show. Its so fun to watch. Well it just so happened that a preseason football game was on the same night. You would think Rob would want to watch football and I offered to watch with him but he wanted to watch project runway instead!! How funny is that??!

Fashion Show

Aliya and I went to the mall. I found some cute things for her to try on. We had so much fun! She is such a sport trying everything on! I think the glasses are the best! She looks so mod! Rob loves the daisy headband but the creme de la creme is the pumpkin beret!

Scooting

This morning I laid Aliya in her baby gym. I went to do a few things around the house and when I came back 5 minutes later she had scooted her self right out of it! I don't know where she was headed but I'm sure if I left her alone she would have been clean across the room!

Cute Pictures

Aliya is a doll!

Remembering Aliyas Birthday

Aliya was born May 24th. We got some great pictures from Aliya's Grandma. I can't believe it has almost been 3 months! Aliya has grown so much since then! FYI these pictures were taken at 3 am after 21 hours of labor so don't be to hard on us! It was a very long day!
